This feature is Suantrai, a Traditional Scottish Lullaby
|
Suantrai is the Gaelic word for "Lullaby". I first came
across this beautiful melody in a recording by the Irish a capella
group "Anuna", who incidentally get their name from the Gaelic
"An Uaithne", which is the collective name of the three ancient
types of Irish music: Suantrai (lullaby), Geantrai
(happy song), and Goltrai (lament).
Unfortunately, this piece is referred to only as a "beautiful
Scottish lullaby". It is also known as "The Christ Child's Lullaby",
but other than that I know nothing about this tune. I arranged
it for guitar, and I hope you find it to be one of those songs
that are fun to play and sound good!
